Cancellation policy
Last updated: Spring 2026 · Draft
Draft. This text is a plain-language first pass by the Meilu team. It will be replaced with counsel-reviewed language before public launch. Nothing here is legal advice.
The short version
- Full refund until 14 days before move-in.
- 50% refund from 14 days until 48 hours before.
- Non-refundable inside 48 hours.
- Cash is settled directly with the host. Meilu doesn't move money.
Why it works this way
Hosts block out their dates the moment they accept a booking. Cancellations inside the window mean they've turned down other requests they could have had. The 14-day / 48-hour tiers are meant to keep that cost proportional rather than all-or-nothing.
Cash reality
Meilu doesn't process payments right now, so “refund” is a shared expectation rather than a button we press. The calculator on the cancellation page shows what is owed from renter to host given the current date. Both parties see the same number; we record the assessment in our ledger so there's no “he said, she said”. When Meilu starts moving money, this policy will enforce refunds automatically.
Host-initiated cancellations
Hosts cancelling an accepted booking owe the renter a good-faith effort to find a replacement and any out-of-pocket cost (first-night accommodations, taxis from the airport). Repeated host cancellations can lead to listing removal.
Disputes over cancellations
Either side can open a dispute if they disagree with the policy outcome for their specific situation. A Meilu editor will read both sides within one business day.
